Pilar Fernández de la Mora

Pilar Fernández de la Mora (born March 26, 1867 in Seville , † August 15, 1929 in Madrid ) was a Spanish pianist and music teacher .

Fernández de la Mora had his first music lessons with Oscar de la Cinna . She made her debut as a pianist in the theater of Cádiz at the age of seven and then went on a concert tour through Andalusia. In Madrid she continued her training with Juan María Guelbezu , where she met Anton Rubinstein . He recommended her to Ambroise Thomas at the Paris Conservatory , where she then attended the piano class of Louise Aglaé Massart . On occasional visits to Paris, Rubinstein also gave her lessons himself.

After graduating, she taught herself at the Paris Conservatory and gave numerous concerts in Paris and London (with Pablo de Sarasate, among others ). She completed her training with Teresa Carreño in Germany and then with Francis Planté . She later became a professor of piano at the Madrid Conservatory. Musicians such as Elisa Tovara , José Cubiles and Lucas Moreno were among her students.
