Pilibhit is a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh .

Pilibhit is located in the North Indian Plain, 250 km east of New Delhi . The border with Nepal is 35 km northeast of the city. Pilibhit is located on the Garra (also Devha ) River , a left tributary of the Ganges . It is the administrative seat of the district of the same name .

45 km southwest of Pilibhit is the town of Bareilly . The national highway NH 74 (Bareilly− Sitarganj ) passes Pilibhit. To the east of the city is the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve .

As a city, Pilibhit has the status of Nagar Palika Parishad . It is divided into 27 wards . At the 2011 census, Pilibhit had 127,988 inhabitants.
