Pilosocereus chrysacanthus is a species of plant in the genus Pilosocereus from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet chrysacanthus means 'golden yellow prickly'.

Pilosocereus chrysacanthus grows tree-shaped, usually branches out from the base and reaches heights of 3 to 4 meters. The more or less upright shoots are blue-green. There are 9 to 12 ribs. The 9 to 12 yellowish thorns later become darker. The longest thorns are 3 to 4 inches long. The flowering part of the shoots is very distinct and is located near the shoot tip and on one side of the shoot. The areoles there are covered with long white hair and yellow thorns.
The white, pink-tinged flowers are 7 to 8 inches long. The spherical fruits reach a diameter of 3 to 4 centimeters and contain a purple-colored pulp.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Pilosocereus chrysacanthus is common in the Mexican states of Guerrero , Puebla and Oaxaca .
The first description as Pilocereus chrysacanthus was published in 1897 by Karl Moritz Schumann . Ronald Stewart Byles and Gordon Douglas Rowley placed them in the genus Pilosocereus in 1957 .
In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
