A Pin Grid Array ( PGA , Eng. , Pin-grid array ) is a housing type of integrated circuits , which especially in processors is used.

The circuit in the form of a silicon chip ( The ) is on a ceramic ( CPGA ), organic ( OPGA ) or plastic-based carrier ( PPGA fixed) which is provided on one side with a number of contact pins (pins) via which the data, Control and supply lines of the circuit are led to the outside.

These contacts can either be soldered directly into a circuit board or by means of a base , e.g. B. a ZIF socket .
