List of grape varieties |
Pinotin is a red wine variety bred in 1991 . It is a cross between Pinot Noir and resistance partners. The new grape variety was bred by the Swiss grape breeder Valentin Blattner . The selection took place in the Freytag nursery in the Neustadt / Lachen-Speyerdorf community in the Palatinate (Germany). After several years of trial evaluation, the grape variety was registered by Volker Freytag for plant variety protection in 2002 and for classification in 2010.
The taste of the wine is characterized by a mild, warm type. The scent is reminiscent of black cherries. It has a ruby red color in the glass.
Ampelographic varietal characteristics
In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:
- The grapes of the new grape variety are narrow, elongated, mostly loose and rarely shouldered. The berry is almost round, medium-sized and covered by an even waxy layer. Due to the loose stalk structure, it changes color early and evenly. Maturity is reached around mid to late September. Healthy grapes can easily be harvested later. The growth can be described as rather weak, which is why a strongly growing substrate is recommended.
The grape variety is characterized by very good resistance to Oidium ( powdery mildew ), Botrytis ( gray mold rot ) and good resistance to downy mildew ( downy mildew ). Since budding is relatively late, there is little danger of late frosts. The vine is not very sensitive to winter frosts.
