The Pinzgauer Hütte is a refuge at 1700 m above sea level. A. in the Kitzbühel Alps (Salzburg), a little west of the Zellersee and the Zeller local mountain Schmittenhöhe ( 1965 m ).
It is located in a large clearing just south of the Kesselscharte in the eastern part of the Pinzgauer walk (section of the Zentralapenweg 02A ), only 1½ km as the crow flies from the summit of the Schmittenhöhe and its mountain station.
The hut is managed by the Austrian Friends of Nature and has 6 two-bed, 5 four-bed rooms and 14 places on the mattress dormitory . It is open from the beginning of June to mid-October and in winter from Christmas to mid-April.
Reachability:
- In summer from Piesendorf in 2 hours; from the Schmittenhöhebahn ½ hour.
- Transfer to the Bürglhütte 6 to 7 hours
- In winter also 2 hours
with touring ski
- from Zell am See / Schüttdorf with the Areitbahn , ski run to the Kapellenbahn valley station, then 1 km.
Near mountain peaks:
- Maurerkogel ( 2074 m ), 1 hour
- Gernkogel ( 2153 m and 2175 m ), 2 to 2½ hours.
