distribution and habitat

The species colonizes Western Europe, from the south of Scandinavia and the south of England to Spain and also to North Africa. The species is widespread in Germany, but is much more common in the west than in the east. However, it generally only occurs locally and rarely, but can occur in large numbers at suitable locations. The species has not yet been proven from Austria. Like Pionosomus opacellus , the species colonizes sandy soils in favorable temperatures.

Way of life

The way of life does not differ from Pionosomus opacellus either . They suckle on seeds lying on the ground and form one generation per year. The hibernation takes place as adults in loose, dry litter.
