Niklas Geske (born April 13, 1994 in Dortmund ) is a German basketball player . He has been under contract with VfL SparkassenStars Bochum since 2020 .

Player career

Niklas Geske grew up in Dortmund. He started playing basketball at TVE Barop at the age of six and quickly showed great talent for the sport. In addition to his passion for basketball, Niklas Geske learned to play the piano at an early age. Up to the age of 16 he completed his training at TVE Barop, until he finally began his adult career with the men of SVD 49 Dortmund . In 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 he reached the final tournament of the four best German U19 youth teams with the NBBL team from Phoenix Hagen , which he led as captain for the second year. From the 2012/2013 season, Niklas Geske trained with the men from Phoenix Hagen and made his Bundesliga debut in 2013.

Geske became known nationwide on January 17, 2015 through a shot he made in the last second of the BBL Bundesliga game Medi Bayreuth against Phoenix Hagen not far from the center line and thus led Hagen to a 76:73 victory. He completed a total of 85 Bundesliga appearances for Hagen and moved to the newly promoted Bundesliga SC Rasta Vechta for the 2016/17 season .

After Rasta Vechta was relegated to the Bundesliga, he joined the Bundesliga club MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg .

In the summer of 2018, the development player decided to turn his back on the first division and switch to the EN Baskets Schwelm in the 2. Bundesliga ProB in order to simultaneously shape his professional future outside of basketball. In the point round of the 2018/19 season, Geske was fourth-best scorer in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB with an average of 20.4 points per match. In April 2019 he was appointed to the German "3-on-3" national team, for which he played in the eliminations for the World Cup in Puerto Rico in May 2019 . In the same month he signed a contract with Phoenix Hagen (2nd Bundesliga ProA). In June 2020 he was signed by third division club VfL SparkassenStars Bochum .
