Piotr Matywiecki

Piotr Matywiecki (born June 6, 1943 in Warsaw ) is a Polish poet , literary critic and essayist .

Life

Matywiecki graduated from high school in Warsaw and studied Polish language and literature at the University of Warsaw from 1963 to 1968 . However, he did not finish his studies. From 1968 to 1987 he worked in the Warsaw University Library . In the early 1980s he was committed to the university Solidarność . From 1983 to 1991 he worked with the monthly Powśiągliwość i Praca , and from 1986 to 1989 he was editor of the literary underground magazine Wyzwanie . From 1990 to 1991 he was deputy editor-in-chief of the magazine Tygodnik Literacki and from 1991 to 1994 of the magazine Potop , which was renamed Przegląd Literacki in 1992 . In 1989 he became a member of the Polish Writers' Union and in 1993 of the PEN Club .

Since 1990 he has been working with Polskie Radio , whose programs Słowa po zmroku and Tygodnik Literacki he co-designed.

In 2013 he was awarded the Polonia Restituta officer order .

He lives in Warsaw.
