The Piper PA-25 Pawnee is a single-engine, single-seat light aircraft produced by the US aircraft manufacturer Piper Aircraft Corporation in a composite construction . The first five series machines were delivered in August 1959.

The aircraft was developed as an agricultural aircraft , but today it is mainly used for towing gliders . It is often called an airtractor .
