The Piper PA-32R is a single-engine, six-seat light aircraft produced by the US aircraft manufacturer Piper Aircraft Corporation . It is a further development of the Piper Cherokee Six .
history
Until 1972 the Piper PA-24 "Comanche" was Piper's most powerful single-engine aircraft, which also offered a lot of comfort. After that, Piper began developing a completely new model that would offer even better performance and even more luxury. The result was a further development of the Piper PA-32 Cherokee Six, in which the fuselage was reinforced and a retractable landing gear was installed. For this reason, the new type was given the additional identifier "R" (English: retractable landing gear = retractable chassis). The PA-32R was born. On the PA-32RT, the "T" stood for the turbocharged engine.
The prototype had its first flight on August 30, 1974, the type certification according to CAR 3-8 (normal category) followed on February 25, 1975. The first production machine flew on July 17, 1975.
While most of the machines were built directly at Piper in Vero Beach , Florida , there was also a license production at Embraer in Brazil with the designation Embraer EMB-721 Sertanejo .
The production of the PA-32R and all other PA-32 versions ended in 2009.
