The Pirre is a right branch of the Havel . In an inland delta it connects the main river with the further tributary Gülper Havel . The Pirre flows into the Gülper Havel opposite the village of Gülpe . The islands of Pilatsch and Pilatschlanke form the southern bank .

As a former Reichswasserstraße , the Pirre and the Gülper Havel did not become a federal waterway , as it was administered by the water management authorities of the GDR on October 1, 1989 and was not taken over by the federal waterway and shipping administration until December 25, 1993 , which is why a return transfer is excluded is. Since, as other bodies of water connected to the waterways, they are not formally navigable bodies of water, the Pirre are closed to motor boats for reasons of nature conservation .
