Pistoia Basket 2000 is an Italian basketball club from Pistoia that plays in the first Italian Serie A basketball league.

history

The club is the successor to the basketball club Olimpia Basket Pistoia , which was dissolved in 1999, and was founded in 2000 from the merger of two local clubs. In the first two seasons, the club played in the amateur class Serie B2 . In 2002 he was promoted to the B1 series, which he belonged to for five years. In 2007 Pistoia was Italian basketball champion of the amateurs and rose to the professional league Legadue .

After six sometimes eventful years in the Legadue, in which they also fought against relegation, Pistoia reached the playoff final of the Legadue in the 2011/12 season and played for the first time for promotion to Serie A. In the final games, however, they failed 3 -1 against New Basket Brindisi . The promotion finally succeeded after further reinforcement of the team, among other things, veterans like Antonio Graves were engaged in the following season 2012/13, when they beat Basket Brescia Leonessa in the fifth and decisive game at home 60:47 in the playoff final .
