The 2017/18 season was the 17th season of the Italian Lega Basket Serie A , the top division in the Italian men's basketball club . It was the 96th championship in Italian men's basketball . The main round started on September 30, 2017 and ended on May 9, 2018 with the 30th and final game day. The play-off final round for the championship lasted until June 15, 2018.
Umana Reyer Venezia started the season as defending champion , while EA7 Emporio Armani Milano competed as cup defender .
Virtus Segafredo Bologna was promoted to the 2017/18 season .
After the main round, Betaland Capo d'Orlando was determined to be relegated to the A2 series .
Olimpia Milano celebrated their 28th Italian championship title after a 4-2 win in the final series against Aquila Trento . Cup winner was Auxilium Torino , which was able to win its first national title.
International competitions
In the purely Italian final of the FIBA Europe Cup, Umana Reyer Venezia won the first European title against Sidigas Avellino .
