The 2015/16 season was the 15th season of the Italian Lega Basket Serie A , the top division in the Italian men's basketball club . It was the 94th championship in Italian men's basketball . The main round started on October 8, 2015 and ended on May 4, 2016 with the 30th and final game day. The play-off final round for the championship lasted until June 13, 2016.
Dinamo Sassari started the season as defending champion and cup winner .
The newcomer for the 2015/16 season was PMS Torino , which took over the name of Auxilium Torino , which was dissolved in 2007 . After the main round, Virtus Bologna was determined to be relegated to Serie A2 due to the poorer direct comparison with the equal points teams from Capo d'Orlando , Caserta and Turin . The fifteen-time champion Virtus Bologna was relegated from Serie A for the first time in the club's history.
Olimpia Milano celebrated the 27th Italian championship title after beating Reggiana 4-2 in the final series .
International competitions
In the FIBA Europe Cup, which was held for the first time, Varese lost 62:66 in the Frankfurt final.
