The Unipol Arena is a multi-purpose hall in the Italian municipality of Casalecchio di Reno of the Metropolitan City of Bologna , region Emilia-Romagna . The Unipol Arena offers space for 500 to 20,000 visitors, depending on the event and configuration. The hall is currently named after the financial group Unipol from Bologna .

History and use

Construction of the arena began on January 1, 1993 and opened on December 1 of that year. At first the hall was named PalaMalaguti , after the Italian motorcycle manufacturer Malaguti . This was followed by the FuturShow trade fair , which took place in Bologna. The hall was renovated from 2008 to 2009. The event hall is used for sports events, among other things; From 1993 to 2017 the building was the home of the Virtus Bologna basketball club . The rival Fortitudo Bologna was also based in the arena for two years from 1997 to 1999. The Virtus Bologna Club Museum is also located in the venue. In addition, look for concerts , theater , shows , exhibitions , conferences , and trade fairs are held in the Unipol Arena.
