Albert Hammond junior (born April 9, 1980 in Los Angeles ) is an American musician and songwriter . In addition to his solo activities as a singer, he is also the guitarist of the band The Strokes .

Life

Hammond was born in Los Angeles in 1980, the son of the singer-songwriter Albert Hammond . He made his first acquaintance with Julian Casablancas , the singer of the Strokes, at the age of 13 at the Swiss elite school Le Rosey . When he met him again in New York in 1998, he and his former school friends Nick Valensi , Nikolai Fraiture and Fabrizio Moretti founded The Strokes . Hammond usually plays the rhythm guitar with the Strokes and only takes over in a few songs, such as B. in Last Nite, the lead guitar .

His first solo album, Yours to Keep , was released on October 13, 2006 on the label Rough Trade , on which, in addition to bandmate Casablancas, Sean Lennon and Ben Kweller are represented. Matt Romano was on drums and Josh Lattanzi played bass. The first single Everyone Gets a Star was available on iTunes on September 4th . At the end of October 2007, Hammond began recording his second solo album ¿Cómo te llama? which was released in July 2008. Hammond then supported the European concerts of Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" tour.

In 2013 Hammond Jr. recorded the EP AHJ with the five tracks St. Justice, Strange Tidings, Carnal Cruise, Rude Customer and Cooker Ship . In late July 2015 he released his third studio album entitled Momentary Masters . The single losing touch is used in the video game Forza Horizon 3 . The fourth studio album Francis Trouble followed in March 2018 , released on the Red Bull Records label .
