The Pivot Peak (English for pivot point ) is a prominent and conical mountain in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . With 2,470 meters it is the highest mountain of the Quartermain Mountains belonging Wilkniss Mountains . It rises southwest of a mountain basin .
The New Zealand team in the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1955-1958) to survey the northern areas set up a surveying station on January 21, 1958 at its summit. It owes its name to its appearance, which makes it an eye-catcher in the topography of its surroundings.
