Johann's son Adam von Wartenberg acquired the brewing rights in 1564 and had a brewery built in Svijany. The Svijany Brewery is one of the oldest breweries in the Czech Republic today. The goods around Svijany and the brewery were sold to Albrecht von Wallenstein in 1622 after the previous owners, the Joachim Andreas von Schlick family , were executed as leaders of the class uprising . The Wallensteins managed the brewery until 1814. In 1945 the brewery was nationalized and part of the group of North Bohemian breweries. After reprivatisation and conversion to a joint stock company in 1992, the brewery became part of the Prague breweries in 1997 (including Staropramen ). The majority owner of the Prague Breweries group was the English brewing group Bass. Later the brewery fell to the Liberec Investment Fund (LIF Trade). In 2001 the limit of 100,000 hectoliters was exceeded for the first time. In December 2015 Svijany announced plans to build a second brewery in Tbilisi , Georgia . The brewery grew continuously, so the output in 2017 was already 637,500 hl.
