The mountain has been made accessible for winter sports by a cable car from the Upper Engadine Val Bernina since 1963. The Bernina-Lagalb stop of the Berninabahn on the route from St. Moritz to Tirano is in the immediate vicinity of the valley station of the cable car at 2107  m . There is a restaurant with a panoramic terrace at the mountain station (2893 m). The lift and restaurant are closed outside of the ski season.

The unprofitable Lagalb Railway should originally have been discontinued after 54 years with the “Strategy 2030” at the end of winter 2015/16. In order to maintain this gondola lift, however, the Pro Lagalb group was set up, which wanted to collect around 5 million Swiss francs by June 2016. In the meantime, the Lagalb-Bahn and the Diavolezza-Bahn have been bought by Piz Nair AG. This will be renamed Diavolezza Lagalb AG in June 2017. This will ensure continued operation on Piz Lagalb.
