Pizza Connection (computer game)

Pizza Connection is a computer game from the German developer Cybernetic Corporation in which the player builds a Europe-wide pizzeria chain. It was published by Software 2000 in 1994 for Amiga and PC.

The player looks at a European city he is currently in and can interact with various buildings there. The game has a quirky sense of humor throughout; contact persons are shown in comic graphics and sometimes by various celebrities and well-known characters, for example Thomas Gottschalk or Rambo .

The player has to find a suitable room for his restaurant and can then set it up. There are different furniture stores and pizza oven suppliers to choose from for each price range. In addition, staff must be recruited and managed.

Pizzas

A fundamental element in Pizza Connection is the Pizza Editor. With the help of this editor, the player can create different pizzas . The game differentiates between standard pizzas, whose recipes can only be found in the manual, and own creations. While the standard pizzas such as Pizza Margherita have to meticulously correspond to the recipes, there are no limits to creativity with your own creations. It is only important to meet the tastes of the target groups who are predominantly to be found in the respective district. In addition, there are various pizza competitions in which you have to recreate pizzas within a time limit.

You can choose between various advertising campaigns, from handouts to newspaper advertisements and television commercials. While flyers are cheap but simple, commercials are also easy to choose, but expensive; in newspaper advertising, on the other hand, you have to put together different parts of sentences that are randomly placed in front of them. If a sentence makes little or no sense, the advertising campaign is less successful.

Not only does it have its own restaurant chain, competing companies also vie for customers. The competitors are controlled either by the computer or by another human player. There are two different things you can do to eliminate your competitors, apart from better marketing strategies, of course. These include small acts of sabotage such as stink bombs, rats or the like in an enemy restaurant, to attacks that are completed with heavy weapons in a mini game. To start an attack, one only has to enter a competing restaurant at night and select an appropriate weapon from the inventory. If you take too long, you will be caught by the police.

Arms trade

Instead of using them yourself, you can trade weapons on a larger scale between cities and earn your money in this way. You always run the risk of being caught by the police. At the arms dealer, the various weapons have code words; When asked "Do you have ice cream?" you can choose between different types that correspond to the four weapons of the game:

In the summer of 2017, the German publisher Assemble Entertainment announced Pizza Connection 3 for the Windows, macOS and Linux platforms for spring 2018 .
