Pizza Mann & Schnitzelhaus is an Austrian fast-food chain . The company was founded in 2005 through the merger of the Pizza Mann and Schnitzelhaus chains . The two companies have been separated again since September 2014, with different owners. In 2017 the Schnitzelhaus chain ceased operations.
Schnitzelhaus
After the bankruptcy in 2016 and a failed reorganization process, business activities were discontinued in autumn 2017. Most recently there were still 22 branches of the former 40 branches.
Schnitzelhaus's direct competitors were the Austrian companies Schnitzlplatz'l and Schnitzelpalast.
Representatives of Austrian cuisine in North America also refer to their restaurants as Schnitzel House (Schnitzel House) to denote European, Austrian cuisine . The offer is mostly original European, sometimes mixed with typical American eating habits.
history
The Schnitzelhaus founder, Helmut Schindler, sold his company in October 2005 to the owners of the Pizza-Mann chain - Alexander and Oliver Platzl. Schindler withdrew into private life for health reasons.
At the end of April 2006, the first branch was opened in Upper Austria (Steyr). By the end of 2006, three branches followed in Linz. From August 2007 the Schnitzelhaus branches, which had previously been operated in the branch system, were continued as franchise operations. In the summer of 2007, seven tenants of the competitor Schnitzlplatz'l switched to the Schnitzelhaus, which enabled the chain to expand its market leadership position. Since September 2007 the restaurant chain has also been offering home delivery for Vienna and Linz. At the end of 2007, Pizza-Mann closed the Schnitzelhaus headquarters in Vienna and moved the administration to the company headquarters in Traun. The branches have been supplied by the company's own SGS transport network since 2006. In 2010 two new locations were opened in Linz.
The former Schnitzelhaus Restaurationsgmbh has been operating under the name food4you gmbh since 2013 . In September 2014 Christian Wimmer, the former Austrian boss of McDonald's, took over the restaurant franchise chain Schnitzelhaus with 38 locations and 30 franchisees together with partners.
In November 2016, the owner of the Schnitzelhaus catering chain applied for the restructuring procedure without self-administration. In autumn 2017, business activities were finally stopped.

history
Adolf Platzl founded the Würstelman brand in 1972 . In 1986 Platzl opened the first Pizza Mann location in Linz. Further branches in Linz followed, after which the company expanded throughout Austria. In 2002 Pizza Mann had 25 locations. In the same year Platzl handed over the business to his sons Alexander and Oliver. In 2005 the Schnitzelhaus company , which was mainly represented in Vienna, was taken over. Since then, 35 Schnitzelhaus locations have belonged to the Pizza Mann / Schnitzelhaus group.
In 2007, nine former Schnitzelplatzl shops were incorporated into the Schnitzelhaus system. In December 2007, the entire Schnitzelhaus headquarters was finally relocated to Traun. Together with the Schnitzelhaus locations, Pizza Mann now has 75 locations and is therefore Austria's largest family company in the field of system catering .
In addition to pizza, pasta was also offered, and there was also a range of meat dishes that changed several times over the years (including schnitzel, chicken wings , cordon bleu , spare ribs ) and desserts. Since the takeover of the Schnitzelhaus chain, some popular Schnitzelhaus dishes have also been offered at Pizza Mann.
The Pizza Mann brand was relaunched in 2014. In addition to a new company logo, the appearance of the brand and the range of dishes were revised. Italian dishes such as pasta, tiramisu and some typical Italian types of pizza have been removed from the menu, and American dishes and pizzas have been added to the range. The recipe for the pizzas has also been partially revised, and the classic Italian names of the dishes have been changed to American ones.
In September 2014, the Platzl brothers sold the Schnitzelhaus chain in order to expand the Burgers - The American Way chain with four locations in Linz and the surrounding area.
