The Hallo Pizza GmbH was until October 2017 German franchisor of restaurant chains . The business purpose was the ready-to-eat production of meals and their delivery .

Companies

The company was founded in 1989 by the later owner, Axel Fassbach, based on the model of US delivery services and production methods with a shop in Düsseldorf-Zoo . Frank Sasse was the managing director. It had its seat in Langenfeld , and more than 170 companies as licensees in more than 100 places in Germany. Overall, the GmbH was the second largest pizza delivery service in Germany after Joey's Pizza Service . The focus of the company was in North Rhine-Westphalia , where around a third of the companies are based. The turnover has been around 80 million euros for several years. In 2012, the system was ranked 12th among the top 20 franchise systems in Germany in the Impulse ranking.

The logo has been changed again and again over the years. Initially only provided with a telephone receiver and the characteristic lettering, a car was added in 1992, which was modified again and again until 2003, when it was given its final shape. Since 2010, the cartoon character "Billy Bronx" has been promoting the company.

The German Institute for Service Quality declared the company the overall test winner in 2011 among the nationally active pizza services. The company was also awarded the German Fairness Prize of DISQ in 2014 (in cooperation with n-tv ).

In October 2017, the company was taken over by the German market leader Domino’s for 32 million euros. In April 2018, work began on converting the first Hallo Pizza stores into Domino's. By 2019, almost all of Hallo Pizza’s 170 branches are to be re-flagged to Domino’s. In areas in which there is overlap between the delivery areas of Hallo Pizza and existing Domino's branches, the Hallo Pizza branches will initially continue to operate under the old name until the problem of the overlap is resolved.

range

The focus was on making pizza. The range was supplemented with pasta, salads , filled baguettes , wraps , casseroles , ice cream and burgers . In addition to the standard offer, there were different campaigns with other theme-based dishes several times a year. As is typical of a franchise, the range of products on offer was uniform in all businesses. The supply of the main ingredients was ensured by in-house delivery via three warehouses. In addition, each company supplied itself with other food and beverages within a catalog of offers.

Typical of the offer were the names, which often referred to US states (e.g. Alaska, Florida, Texas) or cities (e.g. Boston, New York). Classics such as Pizza Hawaii and Pizza Vier Jahreszeiten were also included, as well as clichéd analogies such as Pizza Delhi with curry sauce and Pizza Olymp with gyros and shepherd's cheese .

The two basic types of pizza were offered: The pan pizza (also known as pan pizza) consisted of extra thick dough, while the other pizzas consisted of thinly rolled out dough. These were available in three different sizes.
