Wrap

A wrap (from English to wrap = 'to wrap', 'to enclose') is a thin flatbread with a filling in a roll . The origin is the Tex-Mex cuisine , which is why tortillas are often used as a casing . There are no fixed recipes for the filling, it often consists of vegetables or lettuce , roasted meat and a spicy sauce , sour cream or the like. Since the 1990s, wraps have also become popular in Europe as fast food or finger food .

Similar dishes have developed in oriental cuisine such as Dürüm kebab or shawarma . Their names are also derived from the form of preparation of wrapping or rolling.
