Pyotr Ionowitsch Jakir
Pyotr Ionowitsch Jakir ( Russian Пётр Ионович Якир ; born January 20, 1923 in Kiev , † November 14, 1982 in Moscow ) was a Soviet dissident and historian. As the son of the Soviet general Iona Emmanuilowitsch Jakir , he was sent to various education and prison camps after the arrest and execution of his father in 1937. His mother, Sarra Lasarewna Jakir, was also detained separately from him in prison camps of the Soviet gulag system . He later wrote down his own experiences in a book entitled Childhood in Captivity .
Life
After repeated arrests and rehabilitation, he was able to move to Moscow in 1955. There Jakir worked as a research assistant in the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR . In 1972 he was arrested again, lived in exile and was pardoned in 1974.
