Pyotr Jakowlewitsch Galperin

Pyotr Jakowlewitsch Galperin (also Piotr Gal'perin; born October 2, 1902 in Tambov , † March 25, 1988 in Moscow ) was a Soviet psychologist and educator as well as the founder of a new direction in Soviet psychology. He worked with Alexei Leontiev .

Principle of action orientation in class

According to Galperin, spiritual actions result from external actions (actions performed with material objects). A learning action is therefore initially carried out in a materialized form with real objects or their representations (scheme, diagram, drawing, models, etc.). In this way, pupils received an orientation basis that “is, in a certain sense, an orientation aid for independent orientation.” In this way they achieved lasting learning success.

His work on learning theory and activity theory still has an important role in today's lesson planning processes . Galperin's thoughts provide important starting points, especially for the aspects of action orientation and for the didactic field of Georg Feuser .
