Pyotr Lavrentevich Ulyanov

Pyotr Lavrentjewitsch Uljanow , Russian Петр Лаврентьевич Ульянов (born May 3, 1928 in Saratov Oblast ; † November 13, 2006 in Moscow ) was a Russian mathematician who dealt with analysis.

Ulyanov studied at the Saratov State University (graduating in 1950) and Lomonosov University , where he received his doctorate in 1953. In 1960 he completed his habilitation (Russian doctorate) and became a professor. From 1979 he headed the Department of Functional Theory and Functional Analysis at Lomonossow University and was also at the Steklow Institute from 1957 .

In 1970 he was invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Nice (general developments and special questions). From 1981 he was a corresponding member and since 2006 a full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He was on the editorial board of Matematischeski Sbornik. He was the founder of the Saratov Winter Schools for Function Theory.
