The bust of Dalida

Name origin

The square was named in honor of the Chanteuse Dalida (1933–1987), who lived on Rue d'Orchampt .

history

The decision of the city council of December 5, 1996 named an unnamed open space between the Allée des Brouillards , the rue de l'Abreuvoir and the rue Girardon in Place Dalida , not far from Montmartre , 10 years after her death . On the sidewalk connecting the streets, a bronze bust of Dalida by Alain Aslan (born May 23, 1930 in Bordeaux ) was inaugurated in front of an assembled audience by the then mayor Jean Tiberi and Dalida's brother Orlando Gigliotti. The life-size stone sculpture on Dalida's tomb also came from Aslan. Besides Dalida, there are only two women in Paris whose statues are in public, namely those of Jeanne d'Arc and Sarah Bernhardt .

Sights and places of remembrance

Dalida loved the area of the hill Montmartre ( French Butte Monmartre ), where she also lived. The city wanted to honor her and had a bust erected next to the Château des Brouillards , a few steps from her apartment on Rue d'Orchampt .

This square has become a place of remembrance and reflection for its many admirers.
