Placidus Staeb

Placidus Staeb OSB (* July 1887 in Ellwangen ; † August 6, 1965 in Salvador da Bahia ) was a German Benedictine monk and abbot .

Life

Staeb came from Ellwangen. His parents were Thadeus Staeb and Rosina Ebert-Staeb. He was abbot of the Mosteiro de São Bento in Salvador, Bahia. In 1945 he was elected Archabbot of the Brazilian Benedictine Congregation of the Benedictine Order to succeed the late Abbot Bishop Laurentius Zeller . As head of his Benedictine Congregation , he took part in the second and third sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father in 1963 and 1964 .
