Location of the venue in Slovenia

The Planica 7 is a ski jumping competition series that is held as part of the Ski Jumping World Cup . It took place for the first time in the 2017/18 season as a World Cup final. The competitions extend over four days and are held on the Letalnica bratov Gorišek ski jumping hill in Planica , Slovenia . Ski flying in Planica was traditionally the end of the World Cup calendar even before this series of competitions existed. The introduction of the Planica 7 is intended to make this ski flying weekend more attractive for athletes and spectators.

Competition mode

The Planica 7 includes two individual competitions and a team competition. The two competition jumps of the three competitions as well as the qualification round of the first individual competition are included in the overall ranking of the series. For the second individual competition, which is the final jumping of the World Cup season, traditionally only the best 30 jumpers of the overall World Cup status are allowed to start. For this reason there is no qualification for this competition. As a result, the series comprises seven rounds:

  • a qualification jump of the first individual competition,
  • four jumps of the two individual competitions and
  • two jumps of the team competition.

Prize money

In addition to the usual prize money, which is distributed to the best 30 jumpers in an individual competition or the best three teams in a team competition in the World Cup, the winner receives 20,000  Swiss francs . In addition, the leading jumper will be honored with a special prize after each of the individual rounds.
