Beaches and bays in Mallorca |
Platja de s'Home Mort ('Dead Man's Beach') is a sandy beach on the northeast coast of the Spanish Balearic island of Mallorca . It is located in the north of the municipality of Santa Margalida within the village of Son Serra de Marina .
Location and description
The Platja de s'Home Mort is located in the middle of the village of Son Serra de Marina on the Badia d'Alcúdia ('Bay of Alcúdia'). The beach is therefore often referred to as Platja de Son Serra de Marina , although there is another beach further east that bears this name. The Platja de s'Home Mort is temporarily with seaweed deposits covered. This and the fact that there is the large beach of S'Arenal de Sa Canova in the east of the village leads to only moderate visitor occupancy.
The sandy beach of s'Home Mort stretches about 210 meters along the sea between the cliffs on the shore at Es Mollet de Son Serra de Marina at Punta de Sa Barraca in the west and the rock strip in the east Es Corral des Marbres . Its greatest width is about 50 meters. Parallel to the coastline, the coastal road borders the beach behind the dunes. Behind it, the development consists of one to two-story houses, which are often only inhabited temporarily. Some of the houses on the west side are right on the beach.
Access
After Son Serra de Marina, a road leads north, which branches off at kilometer 14.4 from the MA-12 road between Artà and Alcúdia . The road to the coast bears the name Avinguda del Talaiot de sa Nineta after the Talaiot , a prehistoric building at the confluence, and ends at the marina of Son Serra de Marina. The Platja de s'Home Mort borders the port immediately to the east.
