Jack Knowles

Jack Knowles (* 1987 in London ) is an English lighting designer .

Life

Knowles graduated from the Central School of Speech and Drama in his hometown. He was then able to gain a foothold in the London theater scene as an assistant, as an associate light designer and finally independently. He developed the lighting design for very different productions around the world, such as for the rock opera Tommy from The Who (directed by Raz Shaw , Prince Edward Theater , 2012), Blink , the strange drama about voyeurism and engagement by Phil Porter (directed by Joe Murphy, Traverse Theater in Edinburgh and Soho Theater London, 2012), the Jacobean tragedy The Changeling by William Rowley and Thomas Middleton (Direction: Joe Hill-Gibbons, Young Vic London, 2012), Moth [Motten] by Declan Greene (Direction: Prasanna Puwanarajah, Bush Theater London and Hightide Festival, 2013), Hopelessly Devoted by Kate Tempest (Direction: James Grieve, Paines Plow und Tricycle Theater, London, 2014), The Kilburn Passion by Suhayla El-Bushra (Direction: Emily Lim, Tricycle Theater, London , 2014), There Has Possibly Been An Incident by Chris Thorpe (directed by Sam Pritchard , Royal Exchange, Manchester, 2013 and Berliner Theatertreffen 2014).

Knowles has worked regularly with British directors Tim Webb and Katie Mitchell since 2009 .
