Plato Portmann

Plato Portmann (born June 3, 1920 in Sarnen ; † January 15, 2014 ) was a Swiss biochemist .

Life

Plato Portmann studied medicine and in 1949 when Edgardo Giovannini (1909-2004) at the Swiss University of Freiburg to Dr. med. PhD. From 1955 he taught as a private lecturer at the University of Freiburg. In 1958 he was appointed associate professor and in 1963 he was appointed full professor of physiological chemistry. From 1958 to 1990 he was director of the Institute for Physiological Chemistry. 1966/67 he was dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences. In 1991 he retired.
