owner

The original owner was Capt. Charles Felix George von Plehwe with his wife Mina Sophie von Plehwe, who had no children of their own. Charles was the nephew of Senior General Bernard von Plehwe of the Prussian Cavalry. Charles looked after the mentally handicapped son Otto von Plehwe (aka Fritz von Plehwe), who had immigrated to Texas around 1862 together with his caretaker, his father's former adjutant , Joseph Peter Potschernick. Joseph had the money to travel back to Germany, but decided to stay with the von Plehwe family in Texas.

The buildings on 100 acres now belong to George Strait .
