The Pleosporomycetidae are a subclass of the sac fungus with a broad ecological spectrum and many plant pests.
features
The fruiting body is a Perithecium , Hysterothecium or Kleistothecium . The shape is very variable. The sterile part ( hemathecium ) consists of paraphyses . The asci have a two-layer cell wall (bitunicate). The ascospores are very variable in terms of color, shape and septation.
Systematics
The subclass was described in 2006 by Schoch and colleagues (2006), which belonged together phylogenetically and have pseudoparaphyses as a feature . It initially contained only the order of the Pleosporales and a single external species Lophium mytilinum . Eriksson (2006) leads 13 families in order. A work from 2009 describes the Didymellaceae as the 14th family of the order: The other orders were subsequently placed in the lower class, whereby the order of the Jahnulales is still considered uncertain.

meaning
The order contains some economically important plant pathogens: Cochliobolus heterostrophus causes the bleaching of maize, Leptosphaeria maculans affects oilseed rape roots, Phaeosphaeria nodorum affects grain.
