Plinio Martini

Plinio Martini (born August 4, 1923 in Cavergno , † August 6, 1979 ibid) was a Swiss secondary school teacher, poet and writer .

Life

Plinio Martini is one of the best-known and most popular authors in Italian-speaking Switzerland. He was the second oldest of eight siblings, born in humble circumstances, his father was the village baker. After completing the teachers' seminar in Locarno , Martini worked as a teacher in his home country, first in Cavergno, then at the secondary school in Cevio . His first literary attempts were poetry and youth stories. He came across the novel relatively late. In 1970 the love and emigration story Il fondo del sacco was published , which was a great success, and Requiem per zia Domenica followed in 1976 .
