The Pliszka near the village of Zamęt ( Neumühl , Gmina Łagów ) |
The Pliszka ( German Pleiske ) is a right tributary of the Oder in Poland .
It rises ten km northeast of Torzym (Sternberg) and five km west of Jemiołów (Petersdorf) in Jezioro Malcz, a lake south of the hiking training area , which the villages of Lindow and Groß Kirschbaum had to give way. The headwaters of the Pliszka is part of the Łagów Landscape Protection Park (Łagowski Park Krajobrazowy), which mainly includes the neighboring glacial valley on the upper reaches of the Piesker River with elongated lakes and the hills of the Buczyna beech forest.
At the village of Poźrzadło (Spiegelberg) between Torzym and Świebodzin (Schwiebus) , the old trade route coming from Frankfurt (Oder) crosses the river.
The Pliszka flows through extensive forest areas on its entire course. Larger settlements did not emerge along the river. Numerous iron hammers or small colonies settled in the swampy lowlands . One of the most famous hammer mills on the river was the Pleiskehammer .
After about 56 km the Pliszka flows into the Oder near the market town of Urad (Aurith) , which today belongs to Gmina Cybinka (Ziebingen) .
