Plucker is a small computer program for PDAs that can be used to read specially prepared websites offline . In this way, for example, news services, newspaper articles, television programs or event calendars are at hand on the go.

In order to be able to read websites with Plucker on the PDA, you need a Plucker parser (or "Distiller") in addition to the display program itself, which usually runs on the desktop PC and loads the pages from the Internet and into the Plucker - Format converts. Since these are mostly command line programs, there are also graphic front ends which simplify operation. Professionals also use a proxy filter to convert pages that are not specially designed for handheld computers , which removes , for example, large images or scripts from websites.

Although Plucker was originally developed for Palm devices, there are now also viewers for Windows Mobile- based devices (Vade Mecum), for desktop Windows versions (see link) and for Linux ( Okular , FBReader ). These programs are free software .
