The Plumstead Valley is a valley in East Antarctica Victoria Land . In the Allan Hills it lies at the north end of Shipton Ridge east of the Kirkaldy Spur .
The valley was explored in 1964 by a team working in the Allan Hills as part of the New Zealand Antarctic Research Program . This named it after the South African palaeobotanist Edna Plumstead (1903-1989) in recognition of her work on Antarctic fossils of the seed fern order of the Glossopteridales .
