Pobierowo [ pɔbjɛˈrɔvɔ ] (German Poberow ) is a seaside resort on the Polish Baltic coast in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland . He belongs to the municipality of Rewal (Rewahl) in the Powiat Gryficki .
Pobierowo is located about ten kilometers east of the island Wolin between the places Łukęcin (Lüchenthin) and Pustkowo (Pustkow). The place has a fine sandy beach and is very wooded.
history
The name Poberow is of Slavic origin and was once a manor that was owned by the von Kleist family . The estate south of today's town center no longer exists today. The place was inhabited by free farmers and fishermen.
The street where the fishermen lived developed a tourist infrastructure from 1905. The first hotel in the village was built and the locals rented out guest rooms. In the years from 1920 the seaside resort expanded strongly. In 1930 about 80 hectares of forest between Poberow and Pustkow were converted into building plots of 800 m² in size. A spacious landscape of wooden holiday homes was created under tall pine trees.
In 1945 Poberow was captured by the Red Army and then placed under Polish administration. The German population was expelled or forcibly resettled after the end of the war due to the Bierut decrees . The German town of Poberow was renamed Pobierowo .
