The Poecilopsettidae are a family of flatfish (Pleuronectiformes). The fish live in the Atlantic , Pacific and Indian Ocean mostly at greater depths.

features

The taxon is characterized by the beginning of the dorsal fin above the eyes and the rudimentary lateral line organ on the underside. Poecilopsettidae have 36 to 43 vertebrae and their pelvic fins are symmetrical.

Systematics

The family used to be and is still partly counted as a subfamily of the clods (Pleuronectidae) today .
