action

While Roger, Anita and their dogs prepare to move from London to the countryside, the puppy Patch emulates his role model, the dog Thunderbolt from television. He wants to be a hero like him. Forgotten on the day of the move, he goes to a public casting for a role in Thunderbolt's television series. Although he is embarrassed there, he ends up next to Thunderbolt as a motif on the cover of a newspaper.

Cruella de Vil has been released from prison under strict conditions. Among other things, she has been banned from buying furs and fur clothing. While taking a walk, she accidentally discovers a work in a vernissage that magically attracts her. It comes from the modern artist Lars, a nod to Andy Warhol . She asks him for a custom-made product, a variation on the "Points" theme. But he can never satisfy her.

Thunderbolt's series sidekick "Lightning" reported to Thunderbolt after the casting event that the dog would soon die in series and be replaced by another dog. Lightning has the idea that Thunderbolt should accomplish real heroics, which would make it indispensable for its producers through the publicity. Thunderbolt then embarks on a heroic tour and uses the serial knowledge of Patch to find the right approach for every heroic deed.

Meanwhile, Cruella de Vil plans to take possession of the Dalmatian puppy again. The newspaper's cover photo with patch tells her where to find it. The next day, Anita and Roger also discover the photo and go to London together with Pongo and Perdita to get Patch, whose absence had not yet been noticed.

Cruella de Vil buys her henchmen Horace and Jasper on bail and lets them kidnap the almost 99 Dalmatian puppies from the farm again to process them into a "canvas". Thunderbolt and Patch receive the abductees' cry for help and the opportunity for a real heroic deed via the "evening bark".

After Lightning joins Thunderbolt and Patch to help, the two are captured. After that, Lightning reveals that he invented Thunderbolt's serial death only to get rid of Thunderbolt and become the star of the series himself, and disappears from the scene.

However, Patch then manages to free himself and everyone else from the cages and get them out of the house on a public bus. After a wild chase that ends in a dead end, Thunderbolt manages to overpower Cruella, Jasper and Horace in a scuffle. Patch releases the handbrake from the bus. This rolls backwards, whereby the villains and their stolen truck end up in the Thames, from which they are fished by the police and paramedics.
