action

Years have passed since the big bad wolf was defeated by Little Red Riding Hood : Her loud screams called the hunter who shot the wolf. Although the wolf has settled down, has a loyal wife in Schaf Doris and works as a car mechanic, he cannot forget the shame of back then. He often has nightmares, can no longer concentrate on work and even cannot fill crossword puzzles without thinking about Little Red Riding Hood. His wife is desperate about her husband's behavior and blames herself for not having married Leonard Fox, who is now running his own company.

The wolf has an idea: For several days he has been building a time travel machine with which he wants to undo his failure. He ends up with the machine in the past and meets his former self there. With him he tries to defeat Little Red Riding Hood. Both lock the grandmother in an adjoining room and the wolf lies in bed, disguised, while his doppelganger waits behind the door and is supposed to knock the hunter down when he appears. The plan works, but in the end the grandmother appears, who was locked in the armory by the wolves, and shoots at the wolves, who now return to Doris together. Both wolves come up with a new plan, but next time Little Red Riding Hood screams so loudly that the fire alarm is triggered and the three wolves are defeated. Again and again the wolves return to the present with a new wolf, consult and are unsuccessful. Soon the whole house is full of arguing wolves that Doris has to provide with coffee. At some point she has had enough and uses the time travel machine herself. She returns to the moment when Leonard Fox proposes to her and this time accepts it. Later she is seen driving past the house of the wolves with Leonard, who are still standing there discussing how they could catch Little Red Riding Hood.

production

Redux Riding Hood was produced in autumn 1995 as a production for Walt Disney Television Animation. The film was planned as the first part of the Totally Twisted Fairy Tales series , in which fairy tales such as Hans and the Beanstalk and The Three Little Pigs should be picked up and edited. Director Steve Moore had a largely free artistic hand, even if his decision to use improvised jazz music as a film accompaniment and the dubbing of Doris the sheep by Mia Farrow in the studio were controversial. The pure animation time for the film was around five months. The film was shown at some film festivals in 1997, but was neither shown on television nor released on video or DVD.
