The Pokana River is a river in the southwest of the Australian state of Tasmania .

River course

The river has its source on the southern slopes of Mount Curly in the western part of the Denison Range and initially flows northeast. On the main ridge of the mountain range, it describes a semicircle across southeast to southwest and flows about 6 km further into Lake Gordon and thus into the Gordon River .

In its entire length, the Pokana River runs through completely uninhabited area in the eastern part of the Franklin Gordon Wild Rivers National Park .
