Polau is a district of the municipality of Rosche in the Lower Saxony district of Uelzen . The small town is about 20 km east of Uelzen .
The initially independent municipality was incorporated into the municipality of Rosche on the occasion of the regional reform on July 1, 1972.
The neo-Gothic St. Laurentius Chapel , which replaced the previous building in 1896, is well worth seeing. Together with the war memorial and the cemetery wall, it is designated as an architectural monument (see list of architectural monuments in Rosche # individual monuments in Polau ).
