Katzien is a small town 15 km east of Uelzen in the municipality of Rosche in the Uelzen district in Lower Saxony .

The village, which is characterized by agriculture in the Wipperaue lowlands of the Heideregion -Uelzen, is a semicircular village and has about 40 to 60 inhabitants. On the way from Katzien to Rosche there is an old gravel pit , which is a very popular swimming lake.

On July 1, 1972, Katzien was incorporated into the municipality of Rosche.
