Poldervaart Edge is a 1,300 m high, and east-facing ground level in the East Antarctic Coats Land . In the Read Mountains of the Shackleton Range it extends as part of the Du-Toit-Nunatakker over a length of 7 km in a northeast-southwest expansion.
Aerial photographs were taken in 1967 by the United States Navy . The British Antarctic Survey carried out measurements between 1968 and 1971. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the terrain step in 1971 after the American petrologist Arie Poldervaart (1919-1964) for his research on basalt rock .
