Pole (unit)

Pole , Perch, Pearch, Rod or Lug , was an English measure of length and corresponded to the rod .

1 pole = 5.5 yards = 16.5 feet = 2229 ⅜ Paris lines = 5.029102 meters
4 poles = 1 chain = 22 yards
40 poles = 1 furlong = 220 yards
320 poles = 1 mile / mile = 1760 yards

Depending on the use, a distinction was made between Cheshire Poles , Forest Poles and Woodland Poles .

1 forest pole / forest rod / plantation rod = 7 yards = 21 feet = 2837 ⅓ Parisian lines = 6,400684 meters
1 Woodland pole / Holzland rod = 6 yards = 18 feet = 2432 Parisian lines = 5.486301 meters
1 Cheshire pole = 8 yards
