Politiets Efterretningstjeneste ( PET ) is the Danish domestic intelligence and security service whose task it is to identify and prevent threats against Denmark and Danish society. His budget in 2010 was around 800 million Danish kroner , the equivalent of 107 million euros; he has about 800 employees. The task of the PET is first and foremost to prevent and prevent crimes against the state and its independence or security, as described in Chapter 12 of the Danish Penal Code ( Straffeloven ). Chapter 13 also describes crimes against the Danish constitution ( Grundloven ), which also fall under the remit of PET. Counter- espionage , the fight against terrorism and the fight against right-wing extremism and left-wing extremism are part of it, but also security coordination, personal protection and data protection .
