Exhibition rooms of the collection

The Berlin Police History Collection is a permanent exhibition in the Berlin Police Headquarters on the Platz der Luftbrücke in Berlin 's Tempelhof district . It was opened at the beginning of 1988 and is operated largely with volunteer members.

The collection arose from the amalgamation of the criminal police teaching material collection in Gothaer Strasse in the Schöneberg district of Berlin and the small police museum in the " Joachim Lipschitz " police school in Falkenhagener Feld in the Spandau district . After German reunification , the holdings of the Volkspolizeimuseum in Mauerstrasse in Berlin-Mitte were integrated.

Exhibits

The permanent exhibition in the police headquarters presents historical uniforms, work equipment, weapons and other technology as well as original documents from the Berlin police on around 500 m², but also documents tools and methods of committing unusual criminal cases. A model of the former traffic tower on Potsdamer Platz is located at the entrance to the exhibition rooms . Vehicles belonging to the collection are shown to the public several times a year, including at the open day of the Berlin police. The 60 historic police vehicles and 35 motorcycles to the existing to 2013 motorcycling group are in halls of Directorate 4 in Eiswaldtstraße in Berlin-Lankwitz parked where they are maintained and can be visited by appointment.

Historians can look into an archive, a photo collection and a reference library.
